Bluetooth radio structure
range
The band used by Bluetooth devices is the 2.4 GHz ISM (industrial, scientific and medical) band, which does not require approval. Frequency hopping transceivers are used to combat interference and signal attenuation.
Two modulation modes are defined. The forced mode is called the basic rate and uses a shaped binary FM modulation to minimize the complexity of the transceiver. The optional mode is called enhanced data rate, using PSK modulation and there are two variables: π/4-DQPSK and 8DPSK. The symbol rate of all modulation procedures is 1 Ms/s. In terms of total air transmission data rate, the basic rate is 1 Mbps, the enhanced data rate using π/4-DQPSK is 2 Mbps, and the enhanced data rate using 8DPSK is 3 Mbps.
For full-duplex transmission, both modes use time division duplex (TDD) procedures. This specification defines Bluetooth RF requirements for basic rate and enhanced data rate modes.
Frequency band and channel arrangement
The band used by the Bluetooth system is the 2.4 GHz ISM band. Its frequency band is 2400-2483.5 MHz
79 RF channels are sorted from 0-78 and separated by 1 MHz starting at 2402 GHz
